History of the building. Were you are coming in.

This is not a beautiful country-house like many here. This is a piece of history. Don’t care if you like it or not, this is what it is and it exist from 2300 years ago. It needs, it pretends your respect.
We do not know when all this it was built. We know that both the place and the road are Etruscans. >We know it's been done in several times and parts. We know the last roof restoring was bad but at that time, it seemed a good idea.  We know the first part it’s the left one. Probably the first block was a two-storey barn with the above (height of the floors). >We know that it was expanded upward and toward the right, with the barn that was moved in this direction.>We know that all the floors were made of wood but in 1982, when we started to repair it, it was really difficult to find wooden beams and heights of the floors in most cases, did not allow us to put them back.
The alternative was to officially declare the “historic building” but then we would not be able to work on it. The alternative was to officially declare the historic building and not being able to touch. All or nearly so, the inner rooms were passing through, unmanageable and unusable.
We know that the left side up to the roof dates back to 1600 but it's all relative because the stones come from the river and are all rounded while the villages of Tolano, Ciciano, Luciana, Cocula, Storno and St. Martin in the Valley instead,  they are very to draft squared (easily dating). At the third floor we found some gigantic stones, weighting several tons and we really cannot imagine how they could bring them up.
The restructuring project was made by the doctor of the Faculty of Architecture in Florence, M.G. Pinagli (and her colleague A. Santicioli), trying to meet as far as possible the inner beauty of the building and its many arches. The scale is in the original, was coated with the same material new steps to avoid falling at every step. Try to understand, to enter a time in the town of Greve in Chianti and climbing stairs. Roughly, it was the same situation. The bottom is obviously original. As the city hall, even here there is a point of elevation register. And 'one of the oldest in Italy. Without these cornerstones your GPS might not work. They tell us that dates back to around 1870, the new Italian land registry.
We ordered the study of restructuring. to a Professor of the Faculty of Architecture in Florence (MG Pinagli and her colleague A. We have, in short, trying to save as much as possible even in the details, making it functional and livable but trying to keep intact the charm of this building through the furniture. The stone floor entrance, was found below the existing one and put back in place on a slab. The other floors on the ground floor have been redone with original "terracotta-tiles". The structure as all the old houses was been built on the land. On the front and under the balcony, there are some blistering plaster. Do not depend on the damp but two serious floods (1992-1994), caused by wrong work sanitation by the municipality (judgment of the court of Florence).
The saltpeter disconnects the plaster and we have constantly redo them. We think we have found the right product to solve the problem. Have patience but this is also part of the story that climate change does not always produce more damage. October 2013 the Greve overflows in a way that memory generations do not remember. It’s because the riverbed is greeting but was able to pass over the bridge of  “Gabbiano” and get here. Little damage but the walls whitewashed, obviously "suckled".
In these rooms were really those furniture 200 years ago. Others, like the larger tables, you find them in the restaurant. The idea was to let you experience the campaign in its reality, as it was, it is. Do not create a luxurious place where a select few would be able to come because of the prices of a historic house. Here no one is “on you”, because this is the atmosphere. Dress and act like it makes you feel more free in respect for others here who stay and those who come after. Be tolerant with us and to other customers.

The newer part dates back to the late 50's and part of the 60s. Structurally, the rooms have been redone a few years ago, including floors, such as those of the historical building. The furniture here is in style but the most effective insulation that stone. It 's a “residence bed and breakfast” and the requirement is for “residential use” and the law here does not require that the temperatures drop below zero degrees but try to tell that to the climate. So there will be days when certainly not cold in the apartment but for sure you are not in his underwear in the historic building. Therefore, do not do last minute bookings in the winter. It takes 2 days prior to heat an apartment in duty.
