In particular in this building (Palace Torrigiani) was the core collections when it was the institution museum in 1775 by Peter Leopold and entrusted the management dell'abate Fontana. The idea was to bring together all the scientific collections to present uffizi in a single seat 'scientific', which could also do research. At Specola Indeed there is an astronomical tower and a series of tools for calculating the time of valuable astronomical bill. The laboratory was in fact considered the vanguard. Today has mainly natural-zoological collections which still gone really wonder.

1 zoologic Collection which covers nearly all the animal reign

2 anatomical Collection - the 2,1 The waxes fever by Gaetano Giulio Zumbo, commissioned by the Grand Duke Cosimo III de 'Medici between 1691 and 1694. They are grotesque representations of small taste of macabre and frightening typical of the seventeenth century, portraying the effects fever, with particular attention to the horror and decomposition of bodies.
3 the Tribune of Galileo

The Tribune of Galileo
Only opened in special occasions it is a rare example of neaoclassico style in city. It was inaugurated in the 1841 from the last one granduca, Leopoldo II of Lorena, for III the Conference of the Italian Scientists, and as an example introduces a great statue of Galileo and some paintings dedicated to the scientific knowledge (of Nicholas Cianfanelli).
